Land Information New Zealand (LINZ)’s purpose is to maintain and build confidence in property rights in land and geographic information as well as encourage land markets to develop and mature. Our work supports activities as diverse as buying a house, navigating the seas and sending emergency services to the right place.

LINZ’s Geospatial office is undergoing an exciting period of development and growth. This new opportunity requires a strong leader passionate about standards. You will have the ability to coordinate, engage with and facilitate a range of international and NZ stakeholders on the design and implementation of standards for the interoperability of geospatial information.

To be successful in this role you will be comfortable presenting your views and information in a range of forums. You will be able to build strategic relationships and make linkages within the sector, champion best practice and work at all levels. One of your first responsibilities will be chairing an interagency group tasked with administering New Zealand standards development in compliance with international protocols.

There is a significant challenge ahead and there is plenty of scope to keep you stimulated for some time. A strategic, collaborative, and disciplined operator, you are able to self manage and excel in an environment that provides intellectual challenge and reward. It is expected that you will already have some involvement in geospatial professional groups and international forums, and being able to continue these relationships will be key.
