Overview:
We are seeking a self-motivated and organised person to undertake a project for QCIF and ANDS to liaise with the Queensland research community to assist with the management, description and discovery for collaboration and re-use of data resulting from publicly funded research within Queensland.
QCIF, through its members of six Queensland universities, delivers expertise, facilities and advice to the Queensland research community for research collaboration, data management and High Performance Computing (HPC).
The Australian National Data Service (ANDS) is an initiative the Australian Government begun under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). Since development from 2007 and its formal commencement in 2009, it has executed plans to develop Australia's research data infrastructure and to transform the disparate collections of research data around Australia into a cohesive corpus of research resources universally discoverable for collaboration and re-use.
Secondments from existing University positions may be possible.
This is a Fixed term (Ending 30 June 2011), Full time position based at the Nathan campus.
The role:
Reporting to the Manager, eResearch Services, Griffith University, you will be required to work with: QCIF customer engagement staff, the ANDS Outreach Team and research support staff and researchers in Queensland Universities and other publicly funded research institutions.
An additional key focus will be to identify and promote collections of data (for sharing and re-use by researchers which can inform publicly funded research) which exist in, or are accessible through all levels of Government and Government agencies. The work will be undertaken as a joint QCIF/ANDS project. Water and tropical research will be focus areas.
The person:
A demonstrated record of highly effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and manage your own time are essential criteria for this position.
You will have the ability to liaise, and to understand the needs of broad and complex stakeholder groups. Any experience in data management and/or working in research environments would be to your advantage.
Salary range:
HEW level 7: $65,508 - $70,971 per annum.
